Overview

Rinsing your sprayer is a simple but important step in protecting your crops and your equipment. A proper rinse removes chemical residue from the boom, tank, and spray system, helps prevent accidental crop contamination when you switch crops or products, and reduces nozzle and plumbing buildup that can cause plugging. This guide covers two processes: the Boom Rinse and the Solution System Rinse. It is recommended that you rinse out the boom at the end of each day to clean the main boom plumbing, and you can do it more often if needed.

Before you begin
  • Move the machine to a safe area with the boom unfolded.
  • Make sure the rinse tank has clean water. The rinse tank holds around 120 to 170 gallons of water depending on your model.
  • Be ready to run both the A and B nozzle circuits during the rinse. Even if you spray with only one nozzle, product residue can remain in shared plumbing, nozzle bodies, valves, and components across both circuits.
  • Note that some machines use a micro display located on the left side of the sprayer body, at ground level. You can run the rinse process from the cab display or from this micro display.
Step-by-step instructions1. Boom air purge (optional, before rinsing)

Boom Air Purge uses compressed air to purge chemical out of the boom, which dilutes the system before you rinse. This is an optional first step.

  1. Select Menu and open the Auto Prime and Air Purge app.
  2. Navigate to Boom Air Purge.
  3. Make sure all requirements are met.
  4. Select Start Boom Air Purge.
2. Boom rinse

The boom rinse shuts off the main tank supply, opens flow from the onboard clean-water rinse tank, and starts the solution pump to route clean water through the pump and out of the boom nozzles.

  1. Select Menu and open the Rinse System app.
  2. Select Boom Rinse as the rinse type. (Other options include Rinse Tank Transfer, Solution System, and Solution Tank.)
  3. Make sure the engine is at idle.
  4. Select Start in the display (top-right).
  5. Turn on the Solution Pump.
  6. Turn on the Master Spray Control.
  7. Allow clean water to flush through the boom and nozzles.

The boom rinse runs until you shut it off. You can also run this process from the micro display on the left side of the sprayer body.

If your machine has a high-flow system, it adds a second flow meter. Make sure the second meter handle is open if you want to rinse that circuit. It is important to rinse both the A and B nozzle circuits during the boom rinse to help prevent cross-contamination and ensure a thorough cleanout.

3. Solution system rinse

The solution system rinse cleans the solution tank, inductor, agitation system, recirculation plumbing, and boom plumbing all at once. This process differs from the boom rinse because you can choose the number of rinse cycles and the cycle fluid usage.

  1. From the Rinse System app, select Solution System Rinse as the rinse type.
  2. Choose the number of rinse cycles: 1 to 3. A triple cycle uses most of a full rinse tank for that model.
  3. Choose the cycle fluid usage: Low to High. Each cycle fluid volume differs based on your setting.
  4. Turn on the Solution Pump.
  5. Select Start.
  6. Allow the rinse cycle(s) to complete.

Follow the on-screen prompts in the cab and keep the solution pump control engaged through the process. As with the boom rinse, you can run this feature from the micro display outside the cab. This process takes some time but is an effective and necessary part of cleanout.

Helpful tips
  • Rinse the boom at the end of each day to keep the main boom plumbing clean.
  • Always rinse both the A and B nozzle circuits, even when you only spray from one nozzle. Shared plumbing can hold residue that affects the next load.
  • Use Boom Air Purge before rinsing to dilute the system first, especially after heavier product applications.
  • Check your rinse tank level before starting. A triple solution rinse cycle can use most of a full rinse tank.
