Creating and Using Track Sets on John Deere Gen 4 Displays

Simplify Guidance Track Management in Complex Fields

If you’re farming a field with many guidance tracks—such as those with waterways, split parcels, or other obstacles—scrolling through every track to find the right one isn’t efficient. John Deere’s Generation 4 Displays make managing multiple tracks much simpler with the Track Set feature. Learn how this tool helps you stay organized and save time.

What is a Track Set?

Track Set allows you to group guidance tracks together by section or purpose:

  • Easily organize tracks by field areas (e.g., “West of the creek” and “East of the creek”)

  • Filter through only relevant tracks when working in a specific part of your field

  • Quickly swap between grouped tracks without scrolling through your entire list

Why Use Track Sets?

  • Speed up track selection—No need to scroll through dozens of tracks

  • Reduce mistakes—Group only the tracks needed for each section

  • Adapt to field layout—Handle split fields, obstacles, or complex patterns

How to Create a Track Set

Follow these easy steps to set up track sets on your Gen 4 Display:

  1. Access Set Track

    • On your Gen 4 display, go to the ‘Set Track’ menu.

  2. Create New Track Set

    • Select the option to create a new track set.

  3. Name Your Track Set

    • Assign a unique, descriptive name (for example: “West of Creek” or “North Plot”).

  4. Add Tracks to the Set

    • Choose the guidance tracks you want included. You might add tracks you use only on one side of the field or for a specific operation.

  5. Save the Track Set

    • Confirm your selection and save. The interface shows folder icons for each track set with the number of tracks inside.

How to Use a Track Set

  • From the track list, select your desired track set folder.

  • Tap ‘OK’ to activate. Now, swap track will only cycle through the tracks in that set.

  • To return to swapping between all tracks, select a track outside of any set or deactivate the track set.

Example Scenario

Suppose your field is divided by a creek:

  • Create two track sets: “West of Creek” and “East of Creek.”

  • Add relevant tracks to each.

  • When working on one side, select the corresponding track set for quick access to only those guidance lines, making operation smoother and faster.
