Data Sync Setup in Operations Center

Keep your Gen 4 and G5 display setup data synced with Operations Center to save time, reduce manual work, and keep machines aligned.

Keep setup data moving automatically

Data Sync Setup helps keep your Gen 4 and G5 displays connected to John Deere Operations Center so setup information stays current across your machines. It reduces USB use, saves time, and helps operators work from the same field, boundary, and guidance data.

What Data Sync does

Data Sync continuously checks for new or updated information between the display and Operations Center. When it is set up correctly, changes made in one place can appear on other connected displays without manually exporting and importing files.

Common items that can sync include:

  • Field names.

  • Boundaries.

  • Guidance lines.

  • Tank mixes.

  • Variety information.

  • Implements, on newer versions.

What it does not sync

Two setup items are not included in Data Sync and still require file transfer:

  • Adaptive curves.

  • AutoPath files for AutoPath rows.

If your operation uses either of those features, continue sending those files to the machine separately.

Before you turn it on

Before enabling Data Sync, make sure your information in Operations Center is cleaned up and accurate, since Operations Center acts as the master copy during the first sync. It is also a good idea to archive inactive boundaries before you begin.

You should also confirm:

  • Your displays are running a supported software version.

  • Your machine has JDLink and a compatible display, such as a Gen 4 display.

  • The setup data you want to keep is already in Operations Center.

First-time sync behavior

When Data Sync is turned on for the first time, the system compares what is on the display with what is in Operations Center. If an item exists only on the display and not in Operations Center, it is archived and removed from the display. If an item exists only in Operations Center, it is transferred to the display.

If the same item exists in both places but the versions do not match, the most recently modified version is synced to the other location. This helps keep one consistent record across your fleet.

How to set it up

From Operations Center, open the map, go to Setup, and select Data Sync. Follow the prompts to review the comparison between your displays and Operations Center, then continue through the setup screens.

Typical setup steps include:

  1. Review the summary of your existing setup data.

  2. Select which displays should participate in Data Sync.

  3. Choose import options for each data category.

  4. Save the settings to complete the process.

Import options

Import options control what happens when new information comes back from a display into Operations Center. In most cases, you will want items set to Available so they can sync to other enabled displays.

You can also choose Archive for certain categories if you do not want new items in that category to spread across the rest of the fleet. This is useful when you want to prevent new boundaries or other setup items from being shared automatically.

Managing displays

Not every machine has to stay enabled for Data Sync. You can disable specific displays if you do not want changes from that machine to flow back into Operations Center. This can be helpful for novice operators or machines that tend to create extra guidance lines or other unneeded data.

A quick status review is available in the display and Operations Center tools so you can confirm whether sync is active and working as expected.

Why it helps

Data Sync is designed to cut down on manual setup work and reduce operator mistakes. Instead of moving files with USB drives and re-entering data on each machine, you can update setup information once and let it flow to the rest of your connected equipment.

That means less time spent managing files and more time focused on the field.

Best practices

For the cleanest setup, follow these tips:

  • Review and clean up Operations Center before enabling Data Sync.

  • Archive inactive boundaries ahead of time.

  • Decide which displays should stay enabled and which should stay off.

  • Check import options carefully before saving.

  • Confirm your software version supports the feature.
