Fast Start Feature for SeedStar 3HP Planters
Understanding the Fast Start Feature on Electric Drive Planters
Electric drive planters equipped with SeedStar 3HP technology include a powerful feature called Fast Start. This feature is designed to help ensure optimal seed placement, especially when starting from a complete stop, eliminating skips that can occur at take-off.
What Does Fast Start Do?
-
Fast Start allows the planter to begin dropping seed immediately for 5–6 seconds when you put the planter down, even if the machine isn't moving yet.
-
This quick activation ensures that no gaps are left at the start of a row, which can happen if seed release is delayed while the planter gets moving.
How to Enable or Disable Fast Start
-
Go to the settings icon on your SeedStar 3HP display.
-
Select the option to enable Fast Start on planter down.
-
This will initiate Fast Start every time the planter is lowered.
-
-
Suppress Section Control option is available.
-
With Fast Start on, the planter will drop seeds even on headlands (areas already planted), overriding the section control that normally prevents planting in those zones.
-
To avoid planting seed where you've already planted, consider turning this option off.
-
Using Fast Start Effectively
-
Whenever you put the planter down, make sure your electric power generation is active.
-
Look for the Fast Start icon on the display—this indicates the feature is running.
-
Fast Start will continuously plant for 5–6 seconds. If the planter does not move in that time, planting will stop automatically.
-
If you need to re-initiate the feature after a stop, use the Fast Start Reset option.
Important Note:
-
Leaving the planter down without moving (“dead stop”) will result in a small pile of seeds due to continuous dropping while stationary. Make sure to raise the planter or start moving promptly when using Fast Start.
Manual Fast Start Option
-
If you prefer not to have Fast Start on planter down, simply turn the feature off in the settings.
-
In this mode:
-
Lower the planter as usual. You’ll see a Quick Start icon appear.
-
After the countdown, you can manually press the Fast Start icon to start planting and begin moving as needed.
-
Common User Questions
Why should I use the Fast Start feature?
-
To prevent skips in seed placement when starting from a stop, leading to more uniform crop stands.
What happens if I leave the planter down too long without moving?
-
A stationary planter with Fast Start enabled will cause excess seeds to be dropped in one spot. Always begin moving as soon as Fast Start is engaged.
Can I plant headlands with Fast Start?
-
Yes, but be aware that Fast Start can override section control. Review your settings to ensure you’re not double planting headlands.
Is manual activation possible?
-
Yes. Turn off automatic Fast Start on planter down and use the Fast Start button to activate the feature only when you need it.
