How do you change the engine air filter in a 1025R compact utility tractor?

If your John Deere 1025R is losing power or showing a dirty air filter indicator, it’s time to replace the engine air filter. Below is a step by step guide on how to change your engine air filter.

1. Locate the Air Filter Housing

  • The air filter is inside a black cylindrical housing on the right side (passenger side) of the engine compartment.

2. Remove the Old Air Filter

  • Slide the primary filter (outer filter) straight out.

  • If equipped with a secondary (inner)  filter, remove it by gently pulling it out.

3. Install the New Air Filter(s)

  • Insert the new secondary filter first, if applicable.

  • Insert the new primary filter, making sure it slides in securely.

4. Reattach the Cover

  • Reinstall the housing cover and fasten the rubber latches or clips tightly.
