How to Import & Export Data from a Gen 4 Display on John Deere S700 Combines

Learn how to manage your field, crop, and yield data using a Generation 4 Display.

This guide covers step-by-step instructions for importing and exporting data with a USB drive and offers tips for organizing your information for better results at harvest.

Overview

The John Deere S700 Combine's Generation 4 Display makes it easy to move setup information and harvest data between your machine and other devices. Whether you're preparing for a new season or sharing yield results, importing and exporting data ensures you keep accurate records and stay organized.

Importing Data to Your Gen 4 Display

What is importing?
Importing brings setup information—like field boundaries, guidance lines, variety locator files, and implement profiles—onto your display, so your machine is ready for work.

Steps to Import Data:

  1. Plug in Your USB Drive

    • Locate the USB ports next to the side console of the S700 armrest. There are two ports: one for the display and one for the radio.

    • Plug your USB stick into the correct port (for the display).

  2. Choose Import Option

    • When prompted, select Import Data.

    • Choose your data source:

      • USB Drive (most common)

      • John Deere Operations Center (wireless import if equipped)

  3. Select the Profile and Data

    • Browse available profiles on your USB drive.

    • Pick the setup file you wish to import.

    • Review the file contents—guidance tracks, boundaries, implement profiles, prescriptions, variety locator files, and other setup data—then choose which items to import.

  4. Import the Data

    • Select Import to transfer the data.

    • Wait for the confirmation notification that files were imported successfully.

Tip:
Importing a new setup file does NOT erase existing fields and farms in your display. Old and new data will both be visible. If you want to start fresh, perform a Factory Data Reset before importing.

Exporting Data From Your Gen 4 Display

What is exporting?
Exporting copies work data (like yield, coverage, or operation maps) from your combine's display so you can backup, analyze, or share it later.

Steps to Export Data:

  1. Plug in Your USB Drive

    • Insert your USB stick into the display port in the armrest console.

  2. Choose Export Option

    • When prompted, select Export Data.

  3. Select Data to Export

    • Choose what to export:

      • All Data (recommended for yield data at end of season)

      • Specific Data Types (work data, setup files, prescriptions, etc.)

  4. Transfer the Data

    • Select Export and wait for the confirmation notification.

  5. Remove Your USB Drive

    • Eject the USB safely once export is complete.

Tip:
S700 Combines also feature JD Link for wireless data transfer to the John Deere Operations Center if you have a JD Link Connect subscription, eliminating the need for a USB stick.

Frequently Asked Questions
