How to Unfold and Use Markers on a SeedStar 4HP Planter

Unfolding your SeedStar 4HP Planter correctly maximizes safety and ensures you are ready for planting. Markers are used to create visible rows, helping you stay straight and consistent as you plant.

Unfolding the SeedStar 4HP Planter

1. Access the Frame Control Menu

  • You can reach the frame control menu easily from your run pages.

  • Look for “Frame Control” in the top-right corner.

2. Confirm Transport Mode

  • The planter must be in transport mode before unfolding.

  • Select “Frame Control”; if prompted by a warning, confirm that your tractor’s SCV status is set to neutral. This prevents unintended motion.

3. Lower Wing Wheels

  • In transport mode, check that your frame height SCV control is off.

  • Select “Wing Wheel Lift.”

  • Use your number one SCV to lower the planter wheels.

4. Lower the Three-Point Hitch

  • Lowering the hitch ensures the wings clear properly during unfolding.

5. Select Wing Fold

  • This will move hydraulic oil to the wing fold function.

  • Use SCV one and make sure the tractor is still in neutral.

6. Unfold the Planter

  • Start the unfolding operation.

  • If you need to pause, use the “Stop Movement” button.

  • When unfolding is complete, place the tractor in park.

7. Change to Plant Mode

  • Select “Frame Height Off.”

  • Change the planter from transport to plant mode.

  • Confirm any SCV neutral status warnings.

Operating the Planter Markers

Turning Markers On or Off

  • Once in plant mode, you’ll see marker controls in the display.

  • Markers can be turned on with a simple selection.

Automatic vs Manual Marker Mode

  • For automatic mode: Markers alternate left-to-right automatically each planting cycle.

  • For manual mode: You can select left or right markers to remain active.

  • To switch back to automatic mode, select “On.” The display will show which marker will go down next.

Marker Cycling

  • If you cycle the planter up and down, the active marker switches automatically in auto mode.

Helpful Example Scenario

Scenario: You want automatic marker switching for consistent row spacing.

  • Set markers to auto mode.

  • Each time the planter cycles, it alternates which marker is lowered for your next pass.

Scenario: You prefer to run only the left marker, such as near a field edge or obstacle.

  • Turn auto mode off.

  • Select “Left” marker only. The same marker will remain active until changed.

Troubleshooting and Safety Tips

  • Always make sure the tractor is in neutral before unfolding to prevent unintended movement.

  • If operations do not proceed as expected, check SCV settings and tractor park status.

  • You can stop any movement instantly by pressing “Stop Movement.”
