How to Use Location History in John Deere Operations Center to See What Got Done Today

Replay your machines’ paths to confirm work and spot delays

Location history in John Deere Operations Center lets you see where each connected machine has been throughout the day, so you can quickly review progress and verify that jobs were completed where and when you expected. By replaying a machine’s path, you can spot wasted travel, bottlenecks, or fields that still need attention without driving around to check.

What location history shows you

With JDLink‑connected equipment, Operations Center records where each machine travels and links that movement to date and time. On the web, when you select a machine and turn on location history, you’ll see a highlighted trail showing its path since midnight.

From this view, you can:

  • See the route a machine took between fields and how long it spent in each location.

  • Use the date picker and time slider to focus on a specific part of the day, such as the morning move to fields or a late‑day clean‑up pass.

  • On mobile, review summarized location history and details from different days in the machine’s summary tab.

This gives you a quick way to answer “Where has that machine been, and what has it been doing?” without calling the operator.

How to view location history in Operations Center

Once your machines are connected and reporting into Operations Center, checking location history is simple.

  1. Open John Deere Operations Center on the web and go to the Map view.

  2. Click on the machine you want to review so its machine card opens.

  3. Turn on Location History for that machine. Only that machine’s trail for the selected day will be highlighted.

  4. Use the date picker to choose the day you want to review.

  5. Drag the time slider to see where the machine was at a specific time during that day.

In Operations Center Mobile, you can select a machine, open its summary, and review previous days’ location history and work details without the time slider, which is handy when you are checking on progress from the road.

Everyday ways to use location history

Growers and fleet managers use location history in several practical ways:

  • Confirm that operators reached the right fields and followed expected routes instead of making unnecessary detours.

  • Check that machines spent most of their time working rather than idling or transporting, helping you spot bottlenecks or logistics issues.

  • Verify that work was completed on a given field on a specific day, especially when coordinating multiple machines and operators.

For commercial or multi‑site operations, location history also supports better recordkeeping and oversight of crews and equipment.
