How to Use Marker Functions on SeedStar 3HP Planter with the John Deere 2630 Display

Understanding Marker Controls and Modes

Marker functions help you guide your planter and maintain accurate rows when working in the field. As explained in the video, the 2630 Display provides intuitive control over your planter's markers, allowing you to easily switch between automatic and manual modes.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you set up and use the marker functions on your SeedStar 3HP Planter.

Accessing Marker Controls

To manage your markers on the 2630 Display:

  • Select Main Menu on the display.

  • Tap Planter Auxiliary.

  • Choose the Frame Soft Key (ensure you are in Plant Mode).

Marker Function Settings

You will find three key marker functions at the bottom of the display:

  • On/Off Control:
This acts as a master switch for the markers. When set to “Off,” markers will not function. To use markers, make sure this control is turned “On.”

  • Mode Selection (Auto or Manual):

    • Auto Mode:
In Auto Mode, markers alternate automatically each time you make a headland turn (from right to left or vice versa). This helps keep your rows straight and your passes consistent without extra input.

    • Manual Mode:
Choose Manual Mode to lock your marker on either the left or right side, ideal when opening up fields or running continuous passes around the perimeter.

  • Left/Right Selection:
In Manual Mode, you can select which marker to use (left or right), and toggle between them as needed for your operation.

Common Questions

  • Q: What if my markers don’t respond?

    • A: Ensure the marker master control is switched “On.” Markers will not function if this is set to “Off.”

  • Q: When should I use Manual vs. Auto Mode?

    • A: Use Auto for alternating passes and row accuracy. Use Manual when opening up a field or working around boundaries where you need one marker engaged.

Example Use Case

  • Opening a Field:
Start in Manual Mode, lock the marker on the side that matches your first pass, and drive around the field edge.

  • General Planting:
Switch to Auto Mode for regular planting; the display alternates markers for you every headland turn, saving time and effort.
