How to Use Quick Start and Fast Start with SeedStar 4HP Planters

Understanding Features That Help Reduce Planting Gaps

SeedStar 4HP planters come equipped with two helpful features, Quick Start and Fast Start, designed to help you start planting faster from a stopped position and minimize gaps in your field. This article will guide you through how these features work and when to use them.

What Do Quick Start and Fast Start Do?

  • Quick Start

    • Automatic Activation: Every time you lower the planter, Quick Start turns on automatically.

    • How It Works: As soon as the tractor starts moving, the planter's motors ramp up quickly. This reduces the gap where no seeds are planted at the beginning of each row.

    • Visual Indicator: When activated, you'll see a "Quick Start" message in the top window display.

    • Note: Planting doesn't begin until tractor movement is detected, so there may still be a small gap due to reaction time.

  • Fast Start

    • Manual Activation: Once the planter is lowered, Fast Start appears in the shortcut menu.

    • How It Works: Press Fast Start, and the planter will begin planting for six seconds, even while the tractor is still stationary.

    • Purpose: This feature enables planting from a dead stop, helping to eliminate planting gaps at the start of a row.

    • Timeout: If no tractor movement is detected after six seconds, Fast Start will automatically shut off.

    • Tip: For best results, press Fast Start and start driving right away.

Step-by-Step: Starting Planting with Minimal Gaps

  1. Lower the Planter:

    • Quick Start activates automatically.

  2. Begin Driving:

    • The planter starts planting as speed is detected, reducing gaps.

  3. For Immediate Planting From a Stop:

    • Select Fast Start from the shortcut menu after lowering the planter.

    • The planter begins planting for six seconds, even if you haven’t started moving.

    • Begin driving immediately for continuous planting.

    • If no movement occurs within six seconds, Fast Start will turn off.

Common Questions

  • Will Quick Start always activate automatically?

    • Yes, Quick Start activates every time the planter is lowered.

  • How do I activate Fast Start?

    • After the planter is lowered, choose Fast Start from the shortcut menu on your display.

  • Why is there sometimes a small gap at the start?

    • Quick Start waits for tractor movement before planting begins. Fast Start fills this gap by planting while stationary.

When Should I Use Fast Start?

  • When you want to begin planting immediately from a complete stop, use Fast Start to avoid gaps at the start of a pass.
