The SeedStar 4HP Planter’s overview screen helps you monitor and adjust essential settings to achieve optimal planting performance. This article guides you through the main features, explaining what each function does and how to customize your planter for success.

What Is the SeedStar 4HP Planter Overview Screen?

The overview screen provides a snapshot of core planter functions and allows you to adjust parameters directly from your display. It keeps you informed about row-by-row performance with easy-to-read bar graphs, numbers, and status icons.

Main Features Explained

1. Function Status Bars

  • Each core function—such as population, margin, and singulation—displays a small status bar at the top of the screen.

  • Colors indicate status:

    • Green: Parameter is within range.

    • Yellow/Red: Attention needed; parameter out of range.

2. Accessing Details

  • Select any function to drill into details: Get more insights and make adjustments instantly.

Key Functions and How to Use Them

Population Setting

  • Select the population icon to adjust your target seeding rate.

  • Change target numbers directly for more precision.

Margin Display

  • Review and adjust your target downforce margin:

    • Select the margin icon, then "Target Margin" to modify the setting.

    • Set alarms for margin alerts.

  • See average margin, highest/lowest row margin, and a bar graph for all planter rows.

Seed Singulation

  • Find out which row has the worst singulation.

  • Bar graph shows:

    • Doubles: bars above the line.

    • Skips: bars below the line.

  • View planner-wide averages and identify problem rows.

Seed Spacing

  • Seed spacing is given as a Coefficient of Variation (CV).

  • Review uniformity with a simple bar graph.

Additional Functions

  • “More Functions” icon gives you access to:

    • Ride quality meter.

    • RPM meter.

    • Torque readings.

    • Curve compensation.

  • Drill into each for bar graphs and analytics.

Margin and Downforce Graphs

  • See average margin at the top.

  • The overview displays:

    • Highest/lowest margins per row.

    • Option to switch views between ground contact and applied downforce—choose what’s most important for your field.

Navigation and Viewing Options

  • Number or Bar Graphs: Prefer numbers? Switch to the numerical overview for a different perspective.

  • Population Graph: Always visible across the bottom; shows high/low rows and population specifics.

  • Zoom Feature: Focus in on problem rows—select a specific row (e.g., row #7) to zoom in and diagnose issues with detailed statistics.

  • Lock on a Row: Pin one row in the center for constant monitoring as you plant.

Section Control

  • The screen also displays section control status for each row.

  • Turn rows off manually as needed, right from the overview screen.

  • Use color-coded bars for quick troubleshooting—address yellow or red alerts promptly.
