In-Field Data Sharing: Boosting Teamwork and Efficiency
How In-Field Data Sharing connects your machines for coordinated, productive field operations with John Deere G5 Advanced.
What is In-Field Data Sharing?
In-Field Data Sharing (IFDS) is a G5 Advanced feature that enables operators to share real-time information such as as-applied maps, coverage maps, guidance lines, and field totals between multiple machines working in the same field at once. This ensures every operator is on the same page to cover fields completely and avoid overlap or missed areas.
Key Benefits
-
Eliminate Guesswork: Operators see coverage progress and application data from other machines live, so no time or input is wasted on double-passes or missed spots.
-
Maximize Team Productivity: Multiple machines can efficiently divide the workload and finish jobs faster, without confusion or repeated work.
-
Easier Coordination: Operators have real-time visibility of shared coverage and estimated completion time, streamlining logistics for complex operations.
-
Seamless Integration: Guidance lines, boundaries, and coverage data are automatically synchronized, making setup quicker and more accurate for everyone in the field.
How to Use In-Field Data Sharing
-
Active G5 Advanced License Required:
Ensure all machines in the field are equipped with a G5 Advanced license and compatible displays. -
Enable In-Field Data Sharing:
Within the Operations Center or directly on the G5 display, turn on In-Field Data Sharing for all participating units. -
Set Up Field and Guidance Information:
Confirm that field names, boundaries, and initial guidance lines are correct and available for all machines before starting work. -
Monitor Progress Together:
As work progresses, each operator’s map updates automatically with data from other machines—everyone sees the real-time field status and can adjust as needed.
Helpful Tips
-
Data Accuracy: Keeping field records, client/farm/field names, and guidance lines consistently named and configured in Operations Center ensures clean data exchange.
-
Pre-Season Planning: Using Work Planner in advance helps prepare jobs and synchronize machine tasks before heading to the field.
