Machine Analyzer: How to Review Fleet and Technology Usage

Use Machine Analyzer to better understand machine hours, fleet utilization, and technology adoption across your operation. This report helps you compare seasons, review individual machines, and see whether features like AutoTrac and AutoPath are being used.

What Machine Analyzer does

Machine Analyzer gives you a clear look at how your equipment is being used over a selected time period. You can review engine hours, period hours, and the breakdown of working time, transport time, and idle time for each machine.

It also helps you compare data from different seasons or years. That makes it easier to spot changes in usage, identify trends, and understand how each machine contributed to your operation.

How to open it

To get started, open the Analyze menu and select Machine Analyzer. From there, choose the time period you want to review, such as a full year, spring, or fall.

Selecting the right time period is important because it keeps the report focused on the data you want to study. If you are comparing seasons or reviewing annual use, make sure the date range matches your goal.

Review fleet utilization

A common place to begin is Hours and Utilization and then Fleet Utilization. This report shows current engine hours on each machine, how many hours were added during the selected period, and how that time was divided between working, transport, and idle time.

This view is especially helpful when you want to compare multiple machines in the same fleet. For example, a combine or sprayer may appear as a single machine, while a group of tractors can show very different usage levels across the fleet.

Compare machines and seasons

Fleet Utilization makes it easy to compare one machine against another. In the example from the video, three tractors averaged 284 hours, but individual usage ranged from 196 hours to 415 hours on the 8345R.

You can also switch the data set to Last Year to compare results across seasons. That helps you see whether machine use went up or down and whether a specific piece of equipment saw more or less activity than before.

Check technology usage

Machine Analyzer also includes a Technology Utilization option. This report is useful when you want to see how often operators are using tools such as AutoTrac, AutoPath, turn automation, implement guidance, RowSense, vision, and Machine Sync.

That makes it easier to evaluate whether the technology on your machine is being used to its full potential. If a feature is installed but not showing much activity, that may point to an operator training opportunity or a chance to review workflow.

Why it matters

Machine Analyzer gives you real data to work from instead of relying on guesswork. It helps you understand machine performance, compare annual use, and see whether your technology investment is delivering value.

For many operations, that information can support better planning, better operator coaching, and better equipment decisions for the next season.
