Machine Sync for Harvest: Smoother Grain Transfers
Increase efficiency and reduce stress at harvest with Machine Sync, connecting combines and grain carts for perfectly timed unloading.
What is Machine Sync?
Machine Sync is a G5 Advanced feature that enables real-time communication and coordination between the combine and grain cart during harvest. The system allows the combine operator to control the movement of the grain cart, synchronizing speed and direction for seamless, on-the-go unloading.
Key Benefits
-
Boosts Harvest Efficiency: By keeping combines and grain carts moving together, Machine Sync reduces stop-and-go inefficiencies and increases productivity by up to 8.3% during unloading.
-
Reduces Operator Stress: No more frantic radio calls or guesswork—operators receive clear direction in the cab, minimizing errors and making teamwork easier.
-
Minimizes Crop Loss: Gentle, synchronized unloading while in motion helps avoid spilled grain, tight turns, and downtime in the field.
How Machine Sync Works
-
The combine operator serves as the “leader,” setting the pace and directing the “follower” grain cart through the G5 display interface.
-
Location and movement data are shared wirelessly, allowing real-time automatic speed and steering adjustments for precise matching.
-
When unloading is finished, both machines quickly return to normal operation for continued harvest coverage.
Setup Steps
-
Ensure All Equipment is Compatible:
Both combine and grain cart tractor must have G5 Advanced licenses and displays with Machine Sync capability. -
Designate Roles:
Assign the combine as the leader and the grain cart as the follower in each unit’s display settings. -
Start Harvest and Initiate Sync:
Once the machines are in the field, initiate the sync through the display and follow the prompts for connection and calibration. -
Monitor and Adjust:
Operators should watch their displays and follow any adjustment cues for speed or alignment to ensure smooth, uninterrupted unloading.
