How to Move Data From a G5 Display to John Deere Operations Center
Moving work data from a John Deere G5 Display to John Deere Operations Center helps keep field records accessible for later review and analysis. You can transfer data automatically through Data Sync, export it wirelessly, or use a USB drive when a wireless connection is not available. G5 Displays support data syncing with Operations Center, and John Deere identifies Operations Center as the central place to plan, monitor, and analyze machine and agronomic data.
Enable Automatic Data Sync
When Data Sync is enabled, data can flow between the G5 Display and Operations Center automatically.
- Select the Status Bar on the G5 Display.
- Navigate to Data Sync.
- Select Data Sync.
- Choose Enable Sync to Operations Center.
Data Sync Setup can reduce manual file transfers by sharing setup information between enabled displays and Operations Center. Before enabling it across multiple machines, review and clean up existing setup data because differences may be archived or replaced during synchronization.
Export Data Over the AirTo manually send selected data wirelessly to Operations Center:
- Select Menu.
- Select System.
- Open File Manager.
- Select Export.
- Choose Custom Export.
- Select Operations Center, then select Next.
- Choose the data to include.
- Select Data Types and choose System Data Type.
- Complete the export.
The display will send a notification after the export is complete. You can also check the transfer by selecting the Status Bar and navigating to Wireless Export. Wireless transfer requires the appropriate connected-machine connectivity.
Export Data With a USB DriveA USB drive is a useful option when wireless transfer is unavailable.
- Insert the USB drive into the G5 Display.
- Wait about 10 seconds for the display to recognize the drive.
- Select Export Data.
- Choose Export All Data or Custom Export.
- Select the data type to export, then select Export.
- Wait for the completion notification.
- Insert the USB drive into a computer.
- Locate the file created by the display and compress it into a ZIP file.
- In John Deere Operations Center, select More, then Files.
- Select Upload Files.
- Choose the file type, select the ZIP file, and select Upload.
Operations Center will notify you when the upload is complete. When using a USB drive with a G5 Display, ensure it uses a compatible format; John Deere notes that displays will not recognize exFAT-formatted drives.
