Signs of a Failing Battery

  1. Difficulty Starting: Slow cranking or no response may indicate a weak or dead battery.
  2. Dashboard Warning: A lit battery light suggests a battery or charging system issue.
  3. Swelling or Leakage: Check for swelling, leakage, or corrosion, which signal replacement.
  4. Battery Age: Batteries last 3-5 years. Replace if nearing the end of life.

How to Replace a Battery

  1. Gather Tools: Replacement battery, wrench set, safety gloves, and glasses.
  2. Prepare: Turn off equipment and disconnect the battery, starting with the negative terminal.
  3. Remove Old Battery: Remove hold-downs and lift out the battery.
  4. Install New Battery: Secure the new battery and reconnect terminals, starting with the positive.
  5. Test: Start the equipment to ensure the battery works.
