Use this simple process to locate the serial plate on your compact tractor:

  • Park the tractor on level ground, set the parking brake, and turn the engine off for safety.​

  • Stand on the right-hand side of the tractor (the side opposite the entry step on many models) and look along the frame rail near the front axle or just behind the front right wheel.​

  • Inspect the frame for a metal or adhesive plate with John Deere branding and a 17-character alphanumeric code labeled as the Product Identification Number (PIN) or serial number.​

If you have a front loader or other attachments installed, you may need to look just behind or around the loader mounting brackets to see the plate clearly.​

Tips if You Can’t Read or Find the Plate

Sometimes the plate is dirty, painted over, or hard to see. Try these tips:

  • Clean the area gently with a rag and non-abrasive cleaner to remove dirt and grease so the numbers are easier to read.​
